About Rough Stone Rolling

Roll a rough boulder over endless hills and see how far you can get before the sun goes down. Land smoothly on the downhill side and the ground grinds a little more off your stone's rough corners, until it is round, polished and shining. Inspired by Joseph Smith's words: "I am like a huge, rough stone rolling down from a high mountain; and the only polish I get is when some corner gets rubbed off by coming in contact with something else."

How to play

  • Hold anywhere (or hold Space) to press the stone into the hill and pick up speed going down.
  • Let go as you start up the next hill to launch off the top. In the air, hold to dive.
  • Come down on a downhill slope for a clean landing, which keeps your speed. Hitting an uphill slope slows you down.
  • Clean landings from a big fall grind down the stone's rough corners. A rough stone rolls slower, and it gets faster as the corners wear away. Wear them all away for a Polished Stone bonus and 1.5x points for the rest of the run.
  • Three clean landings in a row starts Rolling Forth: double points and double glints. It ends on a rough landing, or if you go 5 seconds without another clean one.
  • Jump high enough to touch the clouds for bonus points.
  • Roll through the valleys to pick up glints, the gold sparkles along the ground. A blue rush stone gives a burst of speed.
  • Each region ends in a long downhill and a launch across to the next one. Reaching a new region pushes the sun back up.
  • The run ends when the sun sets. Best played in landscape or on a larger screen.
  • Spend your glints in the Rock Shop on the title screen for new stones to roll, from granite to amethyst. They only change how the stone looks, and glints can only be earned by playing.
  • New to it? Tap Learn to play on the title screen for a short practice run that shows when to hold and when to let go.
